Data Architect Intern (Pack STEM, Saatvik Advisors, Summer 2025)

About Saatvik Advisors: 

We offer cyber & internet security services to SMB clients. We offer Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification Services and the global transition to the new IP addressing protocol IPv6 in compliance with federal requirements. We also participate and contribute to global internet governance and policy forums. We develop risk assessment and mitigation strategies for managing a company's intersection of cyber & internet security. 

  

We are developing a methodology for behaviour based systems analysis. We were the first Northern Nevada company to be invited to participate in ZeroLabs Innovation Launchpad, sponsored by GOED & UNLV for this product.

Our founder is a globally recognized writer and speaker in IP addressing. She was a panelist in UNR's 2024 Cybersecurity Conference. She is leading the world's only behaviour based research into the transition to IPv6. She is a former Board Director for Momentum for Health. She holds an MBA from Santa Clara University. She also serves on UNR's Nevada for Excellence in Disabilities Community Advisory Committee and is increasingly active in legislation benefiting the visually impaired as well as internet infrastructure. 

 

Internship Description: 

This internship will be conducting data investigation at one or more levels of the network stack: OSI model. They will also be conducting preliminary data mapping and data relationship modeling. They will document their findings and methodology. They will be exposed to deep understanding of networking and how the multiple layers of the OSI model relate to each other. The data will then be evaluated for its role in LLM, assisting in further development of our foundational methodology.  

  

They will also gain exposure to global resources in internet governance and policy. Our previous Pack STEM intern has been selected as an ARIN fellow as a result of his work. They will gain exposure to the Reno StartUp and business ecosystems. They may also be exposed to the NV Legislative process. 

 

Duties/Responsibilities: 

  • Complete 360 hours of work as an intern (32-40 hours per week, 12 weeks total) 
  • The intern will select a layer of the OSI model, based on interest. We will evaluate necessity to the platform based on performance considerations and unique relationships of the data evaluated. They will evaluate on criteria predetermined by the intern and their supervisor. 
  • They will graphically represent their work in progress and findings. They will be expected to justify their decision making. They will be expected to communicate these findings clearly to their supervisor and project peers. 
  • The intern will be expected to meet weekly with their supervisor. 
  • The intern will be expected to produce the deliverables on time and of acceptable quality. 
  • The intern will be expected to understand the concept and gain thorough understanding of the data they are evaluating. 
  • The intern will be expected to ask sufficient questions during weekly working sessions or mid-week necessary to achieve their deliverable. 

 

Goals and Expectations of the Intern: 

  • Contribute to our foundational methodology with data from multiple sources and extraction methods. 
  • Clearly document in written form their justification for their technical decisions. 
  • Clearly document in visual form the data and its relationships and data extraction methodology. 
  • Clearly communicate their methodology and findings to multiple stakeholders: supervisor, peers, potential investors. 

 

Required Qualifications: 

  • Must be a degree-seeking student at the University of Nevada, Reno after the Spring ‘25 semester  
  • Spring ‘25 or earlier graduates are not eligible for the Wolf Pack STEM Internship Program 
  • Knowledge of data structures: relationships and database structures. 
  • Knowledge of multiple commercial or open-source database structures. 
  • Knowledge of multiple commercial or open-source extraction tools. 
  • Knowledge of designing databases. 
  • Knowledge of visual presentation tools (ie, PowerPoint) 
  • Knowledge of data integrity mechanisms & strategies. 

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Work/practicum experience with the OSI model. 
  • Work/practicum experience with multiple database structures. 
  • Work/practicum experience with multiple data extraction tools. 
  • Work/practicum experience with designing databases. 
  • Work/practicum experience with visual presentation tools. (ie, PowerPoint) 
  • Work/practicum experience with data architecture  
  • Work/practicum experience with data integrity mechanisms & strategies. 

 

Desired Schedule for Intern: 

  • The intern will work the number of hours allocated by the internship program. The intern will have the flexibility to schedule the work around their academic schedules (if applicable). 
  • Applicants may be available to attend business or startup events, based on their interest. 

 

Pack STEM internships require interns to complete 360 hours during their internship. It is the intern’s responsibility to ensure this requirement is met.
