Community Programs Intern

Community Programs Intern (Paid Internship) 
South Lake Tahoe, CA 

Overview 

The League to Save Lake Tahoe is looking for an outgoing, community-minded individual to support the Community Programs team for the summer season. The Community Programs Intern is responsible for assisting with public outreach, event tabling, citizen science programs, and volunteer engagement efforts that help protect Lake Tahoe. The ideal candidate is passionate about environmental conservation and eager to gain hands-on experience in community engagement and event coordination.

Founded in 1957, the League is the oldest and most successful environmental organization focused on protecting and restoring Lake Tahoe’s beauty. Essential Functions/Principal Responsibilities 

  • Assist with planning and executing community cleanups, Eyes on the Lake trainings, Tahoe Forest Stewardship Days, and community tabling opportunities. 
  • Support outreach efforts for the Tahoe Blue Crew program, including volunteer engagement, data tracking, crew launches and training . 
  • Help with event logistics; including staging and packing supplies, setting up on site, cleaning up, and cleaning/organizing equipment post-event. 
  • Maintain and update inventory of Community Programs materials so they are easy to access. 
  • Work alongside volunteers to distribute Keep Tahoe Blue stickers to participating Sticker Business Program participants throughout the Lake Tahoe Basin. 
  • Promote upcoming events by posting flyers around the community and updating online event calendars. 
  • Represent the League at community events and outreach activities. 

Other Duties 

  • Attend meetings and activities as requested by the Supervisor. 
  • Assist with volunteer coordination and engagement. 
  • Other duties as assigned. 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities 

  • An interest in environmental conservation and the League’s mission to protect, restore, and advocate for the ecosystem health and scenic beauty of Lake Tahoe. 
  • Strong communication and public speaking skills. 
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational abilities. 
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. 
  • Willingness to work outdoors, occasionally in adverse weather conditions. 
  • Flexibility to work occasional nights and weekends. 
  • Bilingual (Spanish) preferred but not required. 

Pay and Hours 

$20 per hour. 

Up to 190 total hours during the internship period. 

Flexible scheduling, with potential for academic credit. 

Location 

South Lake Tahoe Headquarters.
