Outreach and Recruitment Research Intern (PIGP, Office for Prospective Students, Summer '25)

**This internship is hosted by UNR - Office for Prospective Students and sponsored by the Nevada Career Studio and ASUN.

About UNR - Office for Prospective Students: 

The Office for Prospective Students is the primary recruitment arm of the University of Nevada, Reno. We develop and implement data-driven outreach programs focused on access, preparation, and eventual enrollment for elementary through university-level students. The Office for Prospective Students recruits quality students statewide and nationally, focusing on ability, geography, and diversity. 

 

Internship Description: 

The Outreach and Recruitment Research Intern will review the competitive audit of collected data we have on competitor institutions social media recruitment efforts and will use that data to refine and continue to implement our social media content calendar with the intention of increasing the number of students in the University enrollment funnel. 

 

Duties/Responsibilities: 

  • The Outreach and Recruitment Research Intern will be responsible for the refinement and implementation of the following: 
  • Content Creation: Review, refine and build upon our existing content calendar to make it more streamlined and duplicatable for the upcoming recruitment cycle 
  • Content Implementation: Create and implement content based on the content calendar on our top platforms (Facebook, X, Instagram and TikTok) 
  • Increase Followers: Implement strategies to gain followers from zip codes/ states that are highly rated according to our recruitment data, as well as gain followers from the diverse populations we would like to increase 
  • Analytics Data Collection: How are the posts doing, who is sharing, how many followers have we gained, who is liking 
  • Create and present a report that compares the increase, reach and effectiveness of the content calendar 

 

Goals and Expectations of the Intern: 

  • Complete 120 hours of work as an intern (20 hours per week minimum, 6 weeks total) 
  • The intern will be expected to communicate effectively, be detail oriented, open to feedback, and be timely with weekly and biweekly tasks and deadlines 
  • The main goal of the Outreach and Recruitment Research Intern will be to refine and implement content calendar and increase the reach and followers on our social media platforms 
  • The completion goal of the internship will be to present a clean and well thought out report on the increase of our social media outreach efforts. 

 

Required Qualifications: 

  • Must be a degree-seeking undergraduate student at the University of Nevada, Reno after the Spring ‘25 semester 
  • Students who’ve graduated Spring 2025 or earlier are not eligible for this position 
  • Demonstrated strong work ethic or project completion 

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Self-starter 
  • A passion for the University of Nevada and it's growth 
  • Involvement in University student life 
  • A strong understanding of social media networks 

 

Desired Schedule for Intern:  

Applicant can work with supervisor and choose own hours weekly based on tasks for the week. 

 

PIGP internships require interns to complete a minimum of 120 hours during their internship. It is the intern’s responsibility to ensure this requirement is met.
