Associate Civil Engineer

The City of South Lake Tahoe is currently recruiting for an Associate Civil Engineer. The Associate Civil Engineer position is a mid-level manager who will be involved in various civil engineering projects. He or she will be responsible for preparing a five-year Capital Improvement Program, designing and constructing Complete Street projects, updating the City’s Stormwater and Drainage Infrastructure program, designing and implementing Active Transportation Projects, addressing Traffic Engineering requests, and preparing Grant Applications for CIP projects. The Associate Civil Engineer must be a registered Civil Engineer. Registration in Traffic Engineering is also highly desirable.

Identifying Characteristics
Associate Civil Engineer– The Associate Civil Engineer is the full journey level class in the professional civil engineering classification. Positions in this class possess the applicable educational and training background required for classes in the professional civil engineering and facilities projects, including appropriate certificates and licenses in the field, as well as practical work experience. The Associate Civil Engineer position is based on demonstrated proficiency in performing the assigned functions and/or certification or testing that validates the performance of the full range of duties and is at the discretion of higher level supervisory or management staff.

Education/Training: A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in architectural, structural, civil engineering or a related field. 

Experience: Two years of responsible professional architecture, civil engineering, or facilities design experience performing duties comparable to those of a journey-level architect or facilities manager/designer.

License or Certificate:
Possession of a valid California or Nevada driver’s license. 
Possession of a valid Certificate of Registration as a professional Civil Engineer or Architect license in the State of California. 
Facilities Management Certificate, or LEED Certification is desired.
