
Curriculum Mapping and Research Intern (PIGP, USAC, Summer '25)

Internship Description:
The Curriculum Mapping and Research Intern would assist USAC CEO and relevant staff with aligning USAC program courses with UNR courses. The intern would help USAC to gather UNR course titles, numbers, descriptions through positive, collaborative UNR and USAC channels. They would assist USAC to know of growing, popular majors and minors on campus, and where top interest lies for study abroad opportunities (from an academic point of view, but not only) - such as which departments or majors are most conducive to studying abroad (which have related requirements), to completing UNR credits abroad, to completing an internship or research abroad, etc. They would assist USAC with research of various academic areas/colleges including health sciences, engineering, computer science, psychology, languages, education, human development, communication, journalism, art history, architecture, criminology/criminal justice, exercise science/sport, business and more.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Analyze UNR colleges' majors/minors/course requirements to help identify ways in which USAC courses do or may align
- Create spreadsheets and data reports to chart alignment of UNR curriculum with USAC partners
- Create graphics to represent the data gathered, and flyers/print/digital materials to explain and promote the findings (course matches and course information per USAC program abroad).
- Confer with the CEO and relevant USAC academic staff (mostly by virtual means, but in-person meetings are also to be scheduled)
Goals and Expectations of the Intern:
- Complete 120 hours of work as an intern (20 hours per week minimum, 6 weeks total)
- Review UNR curriculum for course titles, numbers, and descriptions in order to help USAC to match and align USAC courses. By doing so, UNR students will more easily see which courses they can take on USAC programs and how they would transfer back to UNR degrees. By analyzing various UNR departments'/colleges' majors/minors/course requirements, the intern will help inform USAC plans and curriculum development.
- Create spreadsheets, data reports, charts, graphs, various graphics to represent the data
- Create print and digital materials to share the course information with USAC staff and UNR students/faculty
Required Qualifications:
- Must be a degree-seeking undergraduate student at the University of Nevada, Reno after the Spring ‘25 semester
- Students who’ve graduated Spring 2025 or earlier are not eligible for this position
- Proficiency in Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Ability to track various data points, create spreadsheets, present data clearly and concisely
- Interest in data and research
- Organized and detail-oriented, precise, and attention to accuracy
Preferred Qualifications:
- Special attention will be given to majors/minors/academic areas with links to international study and research needs/requirements (for both students and faculty)
- Experience creating spreadsheets, data reports, visual explanations of data, graphs, charts
Desired Schedule for Intern:
The schedule can be very flexible given that most work will be done independently. Intern welcome to work remotely or in USAC office, or both.
PIGP internships require interns to complete a minimum of 120 hours during their internship. It is the intern’s responsibility to ensure this requirement is met.
