
Nevada Humanities Program Intern (PIGP, Nevada Humanities, Summer '25)

About Nevada Humanities:
Nevada Humanities is an independent 501(c)(3) organization that serves as Nevada's affiliate to the National Endowment for the Humanities. Nevada Humanities produces and supports humanities-based educational and cultural programs that articulate the Nevada experience, feature local culture and heritage, and facilitate the investigation of ideas that matter to the people of Nevada and their communities.
With two offices in Reno and Las Vegas, Nevada Humanities serves the entire state of Nevada with signature programs such as the Nevada Humanities Literary Crawl, our livestream program Humanities at Play, the Nevada Humanities Exhibition Series, our grant program for Nevada non-profit organizations, and many more special initiatives throughout the year.
Internship Description:
The Program Intern will support the assistant director and the program management team to facilitate and produce in-person and online programming for Nevada Humanities, including the Nevada Humanities Literary Crawl, the Robert Laxalt Distinguished Writer Program, Humanities at Play events online, and possible in-person programming in Reno, Nevada. The Program Intern will also work closely with the communications and marketing team on Nevada Humanities programming.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Assist with production needs for in-person programming
- Update project management platform (SmartSuite) and CRM (Salesforce)
- Assist with media migration and categorization
- Assist with promotional campaigns and graphic design needs
- Assist with writing and editing pieces about Nevada Humanities
- Assist with planning for Nevada Humanities Literary Crawl, including working with invited artists and coordinating events
- Attend selected Nevada Humanities events to capture photos and participant data
- Assist with writing and design needs for the development team
- Perform additional administrative tasks as needed
Goals and Expectations of the Intern:
- Complete 120 hours of work as an intern (20 hours per week minimum, 6 weeks total)
- The Nevada Humanities Program Intern is expected to engage regularly with the team, to be proactive and help solve challenges as they arise, to be a self-learner and a team player, and to grow their portfolio of skills over the course of the internship.
Required Qualifications:
- Must be a degree-seeking undergraduate student at the University of Nevada, Reno after the Spring ‘25 semester
- Students who’ve graduated Spring 2025 or earlier are not eligible for this position
- Proficiency with writing and editing
- Proficiency with Google Workspace
- Basic experience with graphic design
- Basic experience with project management.
- Training will be provided to the Program Intern on Nevada Humanities software and platforms including Google Workspace, Salesforce, and SmartSuite. Training will also be provided on the Nevada Humanities style guide and accessibility best practices.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Excellent writing skills, proficiency with project management, proficiency with graphic design.
Desired Schedule for Intern:
Applicants must be available to work between 9 am and 5 pm.
PIGP internships require interns to complete a minimum of 120 hours during their internship. It is the intern’s responsibility to ensure this requirement is met.
