Summer Honors Project Manager Intern (PIGP, UNR Honors College, Summer '25)

**This internship is hosted by UNR Honors College and sponsored by the Nevada Career Studio and ASUN.

About UNR Honors College: 

The Honors College serves highest performing undergraduate students at the University of Nevada, Reno. The College's staff, faculty, and leadership are dedicated to providing innovative educational opportunities, incentives, and supportive resources to its 1200 honors students. Staff, faculty, leadership, and students are truly collaborative and are represented on all Honors College committees, working groups, and at events. 

 

Internship Description: 

This intern will be the program manager for Summer Honors, our bridge program for incoming freshmen Honors College students. The intern will work with a team that includes faculty, staff, and leadership from the Honors College. Though the intern will have a lot of responsibilities, we see the intern as a 

student first and understand that this may be their first project management experience! We will train and support the intern as they gain proficiency in project management tasks. 

 

Duties/Responsibilities: 

  • According to student interest, duties may include: 
  • Recruiting and managing a team of current honors college students to speak on panel sessions, attend and help support faculty sessions (Zoom or in person), and create a space for community building 
  • Managing and/or analyzing data 
  • Planning and hosting events 
  • Preparing briefs and pictures for the marketing team 
  • Preparing press releases for managing and organizing a calendar of sessions 
  • Attending sessions to answer student questions and provide technological support to faculty 

 

Goals and Expectations of the Intern: 

  • Complete 120 hours of work as an intern (20 hours per week minimum, 6 weeks total) 
  • Gain proficiency in project management tasks 
  • Develop and hone presentation skills  
  • Develop and improve time management skills 

 

Required Qualifications: 

  • Must be a degree-seeking undergraduate student at the University of Nevada, Reno after the Spring ‘25 semester 
  • Students who have graduated Spring 2025 or earlier are not eligible for this position 
  • Experience with Canvas (Webcampus) as a student 

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Experience with Canvas as an administrator; experience with Experience with Microsoft Suite, including Word and Excel, and Outlook, including calendar and scheduling assistant. 
  • Experience working as part of a team 
  • Experience with event planning 
  • Experience with data management 
  • Experience with educational programs (K-12, community, tutoring, etc.) 

 

Desired Schedule for Intern:  

Interns must be able to work in person on the University of Nevada, Reno campus, during the Honors College's normal business hours of 8:00-5:00; interns should have a mix of at least 2- and 4-hour shifts during weekdays; interns may need to work an occasional evening event, and may need to be onsite for a day-at-the-lake at our Lake Tahoe campus in August. 

 

PIGP internships require interns to complete a minimum of 120 hours during their internship. It is the intern’s responsibility to ensure this requirement is met.
