Seasonal Mosquito Technician

If you are interested in learning how to perform science-based laboratory skills related to mosquito identification and testing, join Washington County Environmental Health Branch within the Public Health Division as a Seasonal Mosquito Technician! We are currently recruiting to fill multiple openings with the anticipated end date of 9/12/2025. 

About the Opportunity:
In this role, you will traverse diverse and uneven terrains like wetlands, forests, and/or urban areas to set up and collect mosquito traps, inspect wide variety of aquatic habitats and conduct mosquito control activities using biological, cultural, and chemical methods in order to improve or sustain community safety. Generally, you will work in outdoor environments in varying weather conditions; therefore, it is required to be comfortable working in such conditions and have the ability to perform physical tasks such as walking long distances, carrying equipment, and setting up traps. You will also work independently or in small teams and may interact with the public. It is important to adhere to the safety protocols in this role. 
 
Due to the nature of the responsibilities, these positions are not eligible for remote work. Occasional early morning or weekend work may be required depending on the business needs.

These positions are seasonal temporary assignments. Seasonal positions can be assigned up to 40 hours per week for up to 6 months of duration. These positions are eligible for sick time accruals, but are not eligible for other fringe benefits.
