Marketing & Events Manager -PlayCupid

Marketing & Events Manager — PlayCupid

Location: Reno, Nevada

Schedule: Part-time, approximately 8–12 hours per week, with some evening and weekend events

Pay: $22–$25 per hour, based on experience

Anticipated start: Late 2026, depending on launch readiness. We’re interviewing now and will confirm the paid start date with the selected candidate before hiring.

PlayCupid is a new Reno-based app founded by a mother-daughter team. It helps Singles meet through introductions suggested by people they trust. We’re looking for an organized, outgoing Marketing & Events Manager to help introduce PlayCupid to the Reno community, beginning with outreach around UNR.

The role will begin with event planning and ambassador recruitment shortly before public promotions. Events will begin when the app and launch materials are ready.

What you’ll do

Plan and coordinate campus-area, community, and game-day promotions.

Recruit, onboard, schedule, and support student brand ambassadors. Teams may vary from event to event, so you’ll arrange coverage and backups.

Track and verify ambassadors’ actual hours worked, including event setup and cleanup, and submit accurate time records for payroll. Hours must never be padded or reported for work that was not performed.

Contact potential event partners and help obtain approval before any event or promotion.

Bring the supplies provided for each event and oversee setup and cleanup.

Keep a clear record of T-shirts, coffee cards, giveaways, and other supplies received, distributed, and returned after each event.

Explain PlayCupid clearly and warmly to prospective Singles and Cupids.

Track event attendance, QR scans, signups, staffing, costs, and follow-up tasks.

Provide clear, concise written feedback after each event: what happened, what worked, what did not, and what you recommend changing. Send a brief weekly summary to PlayCupid’s founders.

You may be a good fit if you

Are dependable, organized, and comfortable taking the lead at an event.

Communicate well in person and in writing with students, local businesses, and a changing event team.

Can handle scheduling changes and solve problems calmly.

Are familiar with UNR Greek life and in tune with where students gather and socialize.

Enjoy community outreach, events, and helping a new brand grow.

Know the Reno and UNR area. Event or ambassador experience is a plus.

This is a paid, part-time role with hands-on responsibility and room to help shape PlayCupid’s Reno launch. PlayCupid is an independent company and is not affiliated with UNR.

To apply: Submit your résumé and a brief cover letter through Handshake. In your cover letter, include your general availability for evening and weekend events and answer these questions:

Two ambassadors cancel shortly before an event. What would you do?

Where would you suggest introducing PlayCupid to students around UNR, and how would you approach getting permission to be there?

After an event, the number of coffee cards left does not match the number recorded as given out. What would you do?

What information would you include in a short written report to help us decide whether to repeat an event?
