Children's Center Aide

Summary
Assists in instruction of children in activities designed to promote social, physical and intellectual growth needed as well as maintains safety and best practices for a child care setting..

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Keeps areas of responsibility in compliance with State of California, Dept. of Social Services, and Title 22.
  • Maintains best practices for a child care setting.
  • Opens communication with director, co-workers.
  • Provides a nurturing environment.
  • Assists teachers in supervising children and assuring safety of children.
  • Assists teachers to create a classroom that is appealing to children, safe and meets the needs of the children as individuals and as a whole.
  • Properly maintains, cleans and stores toys, supplies, manipulatives and equipment.
  • Instructs children in practices of personal cleanliness and self care.
  • Assists children with snacks and lunches as needed.
  • Maintains floors, walls, doors, furnishings and fixtures in order to keep center clean, safe and presentable.
  • Supervises and encourages toileting and as applicable, diapers.
  • Grows professionally through education and workshops annually.
  • Demonstrates System Values in performance and behavior.
  • Complies with System policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as may be assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities
No supervisory responsibilities.

Minimum Education/Experience
No educational requirement and one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Other Experience/Qualifications
Preferred:

  • 3 units of ECE/CD or participating in an occupational program conducted by an accredited high school or college. Education and/or Experience are based on the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing for the Child Development Permit Matrix.
  • All coursework must meet the approved standards of Title 22 (101216.1). It is the responsibility of the employee to maintain education and experience qualifications and provide proof of completion to the Tahoe Forest Hospital Human Resources Department and Tahoe Forest Children’s Center Facility director in a timely manner.
