Internship Description:
The Mechanical Engineering Intern will assist the engineering team with CAD drawings and documentation, manufacturing processes & documentation and R&D projects. As a member of our small team, the intern will work very closely with our engineering and production team to ensure that our coffee roasters are built to the exacting standards that our customers and industry expect.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Complete 360 hours of work as an intern (32-40 hours per week, 9 weeks minimum)
- Assist the engineering team with:
- CAD work & documentation
- Production process documentation
- R&D projects
- Assisting production work and other duties as assigned
Goals and Expectations of the Intern:
Cross-functional communication, mechanical engineering skills, technical writing, professional environment conduct & behavior.
Required Qualifications:
- Must be a degree-seeking undergraduate OR graduate student at the University of Nevada, Reno after the Spring ‘26 semester
- Spring ‘26 or earlier graduates are not eligible for the Wolf Pack STEM Internship Program
- Student must be enrolled in a major or minor program in the following colleges:
- Agriculture, Biotechnology, and Natural Resources (CABNR)
- Business
- Engineering
- Science
- Public Health/Orvis
- Be enrolled in an engineering degree program
- Able to follow written & verbal instructions
- Mechanically inclined and comfortable using a variety of hand and power tools
- Self-motivated and reliable
- Possess a strong sense of work ethic
- Personal responsibility and commitment to high-quality, safe work outcomes.
Preferred Qualifications:
- CAD experience
- Inquisitiveness
- Interest in the coffee industry.
Desired Schedule for Intern:
Monday-Friday, 7a-4p, ability to work a minimum of 25+ hours during the summer break.
Pack STEM internships require interns to complete 360 hours during their internship. It is the intern’s responsibility to ensure this requirement is met.
