Internship Description:
The Digital Marketing & Growth Intern will support marketing initiatives across digital channels, working closely with strategy, content, and design teams on active projects. This role provides hands-on experience in digital marketing execution, content optimization, campaign support, and performance analysis. The intern will assist with website content updates, SEO and GEO research, social and email marketing support, and market research to help improve visibility, engagement, and conversion outcomes.
Throughout the internship, the student will gain practical exposure to modern marketing tools, analytics platforms, and real-world campaign workflows. They will participate in planning sessions, review performance metrics, and learn how data-driven marketing decisions are made in a professional environment. This role is ideal for students interested in digital marketing, growth strategy, communications, or brand development who want to build meaningful experience while contributing to live client and internal initiatives.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Complete 360 hours of work as an intern (32-40 hours per week, 9 weeks minimum)
- Support digital marketing initiatives across websites, email, and social channels
- Assist with content updates and optimization for websites and landing pages
- Conduct SEO and GEO research, including keyword discovery and competitive analysis
- Help draft and organize marketing content such as page copy, blog posts, email drafts, and social posts
- Support campaign execution and coordination across marketing tools and platforms
- Assist in tracking and reporting on performance metrics such as traffic, engagement, and conversions
- Conduct market and audience research to support positioning and messaging decisions
- Collaborate with designers, strategists, and developers to ensure marketing goals are reflected in digital experiences
- Help maintain marketing documentation, content calendars, and campaign assets
- Participate in team meetings, reviews, and brainstorming sessions to gain exposure to real-world marketing workflows
Goals and Expectations of the Intern:
The intern is expected to actively contribute to ongoing marketing initiatives while developing practical, real-world skills in digital marketing and growth strategy. They should be curious, organized, and eager to learn, with a willingness to take ownership of assigned tasks and follow through with attention to detail. The intern will be expected to communicate clearly, ask thoughtful questions, and incorporate feedback as part of the learning process.
Throughout the internship, the intern should aim to build a strong understanding of how digital marketing supports business goals, become comfortable using modern marketing tools and analytics, and demonstrate steady growth in confidence and capability. By the end of the internship, the intern should be able to support campaigns more independently, contribute ideas and insights, and show a clear understanding of best practices across content, SEO, and performance-driven marketing.
Required Qualifications:
- Must be a degree-seeking undergraduate OR graduate student at the University of Nevada, Reno after the Spring ‘26 semester
- Spring ‘26 or earlier graduates are not eligible for the Wolf Pack STEM Internship Program
- Student must be enrolled in a major or minor program in the following colleges:
- Agriculture, Biotechnology, and Natural Resources (CABNR)
- Business
- Engineering
- Science
- Public Health/Orvis
- Coursework in marketing, communications, business, or a related field
- Strong interest in digital marketing, growth strategy, and online content
- Basic understanding of websites, social media, and digital marketing concepts
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage tasks independently with guidance
- Comfortable learning new tools and working in a collaborative, fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with basic SEO concepts or content optimization
- Experience using social media platforms or content management systems
- Exposure to analytics tools such as Google Analytics or similar platforms
- Interest in AI, emerging marketing technologies, or data-driven decision-making
- Experience with basic design tools or content creation is a plus, but not required
Desired Schedule for Intern:
32–40 hours per week over the summer term, generally Monday–Friday during standard business hours, with scheduling coordinated in advance with the supervisor.
Pack STEM internships require interns to complete 360 hours during their internship. It is the intern’s responsibility to ensure this requirement is met.
