The Communications Intern will produce, coordinate, and schedule all social media posts and email campaigns for the Made in Nevada/Grown in Nevada programs and Nevada Small Business Development Center. Intern will work closely with Community Project Manager to ensure that all trainings, events, and relevant program information communicated on social media and email campaigns is clear, effective, and reaches appropriate audiences. Communications Intern will  engage in the creation and maintenance of social media advertisements and campaigns.

 

This position also includes administrative work, including (but not limited to) Made in Nevada member intake and onboarding, managing CRM, and email lists.

 

This position may also work with SBDC business advisors to give business development assistance to entrepreneurs and small business owners. The Communications Intern may work to provide market research and communications recommendations for clients, as well as work directly with clients and contribute to client work for other team members.

 

Essential Job Functions:

• Create marketing plans using all strategic communications tools (i.e. traditional advertising, social media, public relations, direct-to-consumer marketing, etc.)

• Create, schedule, and coordinate marketing content for the Nevada SBDC, Made in Nevada program, , including web content, articles, social media content and other materials

• Coordinate with Nevada SBDC advisors and intern team on various client projects

 

Skills Needed:

• Knowledge of marketing/ advertising/ public relations/ social media strategies and tactics

• Ability to work in a team environment

• Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel and Word; understand design principles; Experience with Hootsuite, Canva design software, and MailChimp is preferred.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, for use in producing marketing copy, client deliverables, client meetings and other work

• Ability to work independently

• Ability to manage multiple projects at once, balancing deadlines and deliverables to meet client and team needs

 

Education and Experience:

  • Candidates must be enrolled in a University of Nevada, Reno Undergraduate program earning at least 12 credits per semester. 
  • It is strongly recommended that candidates have introductory educational or working experience in business, communications, social media, or general marketing. 
  • Bilingual (Spanish speaking) is a plus
