Business Administration Intern (Four Square Clinicals, Pack Intern, Spring 2026)

We integrate clinical practice, neuroscience, and data-driven research to better understand the relationship between brain function and mental health. Our interns work alongside clinicians and analysts to support EEG-based research, behavioral data collection, and clinical workflow innovation. The internship offers meaningful exposure to applied neuroscience, mental health systems, and community-based care models.

Internship Description: 

The Business Administration Intern will assist Four Square Clinicals with operational, financial, and program coordination tasks that support its integrated behavioral health, substance use, and outreach programs. Under the supervision of the Business Administrator, the intern will gain hands-on experience in clinic operations, budgeting, compliance, and project management. 

  

Primary responsibilities include helping manage grant tracking, updating financial spreadsheets, supporting human resources documentation, and assisting with scheduling and communication across departments. The intern will also contribute to quality improvement initiatives by collecting and organizing data related to billing, outreach, and client services. 

  

This internship provides direct exposure to the administrative operations of a growing behavioral health organization. Interns will develop professional skills in healthcare management, business communication, and workflow optimization while contributing to the mission of expanding access to mental health and substance use disorder treatment in Northern Nevada. 

 

Duties/Responsibilities: 

  • Complete 150 hours of work as an intern (10-15 hours per week, 15 weeks total) 
  • The Business Administration Intern will support the daily operations and outreach initiatives of Four Square Clinicals under the supervision of the Business Administrator and Clinical Director. Primary duties include: 
  • Assisting with grant and budget tracking for programs such as alternative sentencing and early release programs. 
  • Supporting invoice processing, payroll documentation, and financial reconciliation using Excel and accounting tools. 
  • Maintaining organized digital records and compliance documentation through Microsoft OneDrive and SharePoint. 
  • Helping manage staff schedules, meeting coordination, and administrative communications via Microsoft Teams. 
  • Participating in community outreach efforts, including maintaining referral lists, assisting with partnership correspondence, and organizing materials for local events or presentations. 
  • Assisting with the creation of flyers, forms, and outreach tracking logs to support engagement with regional behavioral health and housing partners. 
  • Preparing reports, agendas, and data summaries for leadership and grant compliance meetings. 
  • Upholding confidentiality, professionalism, and attention to detail when handling sensitive client, staff, or financial information. 
  • This position provides hands-on experience in healthcare administration and outreach coordination, offering exposure to both internal operations and external community engagement within a growing behavioral health organization. 

 

Goals and Expectations of the Intern: 

The goal of the Business Administration Internship is to provide the student with practical experience in the operational and outreach functions of an integrated behavioral health organization. By the end of the internship, the intern will have gained a clear understanding of how administrative systems, fiscal management, and community engagement contribute to the success of mental health and substance use programs. 

  

Interns are expected to demonstrate professionalism, initiative, and confidentiality in all assignments. They will be responsible for completing tasks accurately and on schedule, maintaining organized digital records, and communicating effectively with supervisors and staff. 

  

Through hands-on experience, the intern will learn to track budgets, assist with grant documentation, coordinate outreach projects, and participate in interdepartmental communication. The internship emphasizes the development of real-world administrative, financial, and leadership skills in a healthcare setting, preparing the student for future roles in healthcare management, public administration, or nonprofit operations. 

 

Required Qualifications: 

  • Must be a degree-seeking undergraduate OR graduate student at the University of Nevada, Reno during the Spring ‘26 semester  
  • Fall ‘25 or earlier graduates are not eligible for the Wolf Pack STEM Internship Program 
  • Coursework in Business Administration, Public Health, Health Care Management, or related field 
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications (Excel, Teams, OneDrive, Word, and Outlook). 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities for internal and external correspondence. 
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality when handling sensitive information. 
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment. 
  • Interest in healthcare operations, behavioral health administration, and community outreach 
  • Demonstrated professionalism, reliability, and willingness to learn new administrative systems and processes. 

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Completion of coursework in accounting, management, health administration, public relations, or community development. 
  • Experience with budget tracking, Excel data management, or financial reconciliation. 
  • Familiarity with grant or nonprofit administration, including reporting and compliance documentation. 
  • Prior involvement in community outreach or event coordination, especially within healthcare or social service settings. 
  • Knowledge of marketing or communications tools, such as Canva, Publisher, or Microsoft Forms, for outreach material development. 
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate professionally with external partners and community organizations. 
  • Demonstrated interest in integrated behavioral health systems, housing coordination, or rural health service delivery. 
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and adaptable in a dynamic, multi-departmental environment. 

 

Desired Schedule for Intern: 

  • Average Weekly Commitment: 8–10 hours per week over approximately 16 weeks 
  • Mode: Hybrid (On-site in Reno + Remote work through Microsoft Teams and OneDrive) 

 

Pack STEM internships require interns to complete 150 hours during their internship. It is the intern’s responsibility to ensure this requirement is met.
