Data Analyst Intern (Four Square Clinicals, Pack Intern, Spring 2026)

We integrate clinical practice, neuroscience, and data-driven research to better understand the relationship between brain function and mental health. Our interns work alongside clinicians and analysts to support EEG-based research, behavioral data collection, and clinical workflow innovation. Internship Description: 

The Data Analyst Intern will play a key role in supporting Four Square Clinicals’ integrated behavioral health, substance use disorder (SUD), and outreach programs through the collection, analysis, and visualization of clinical and operational data. Working closely with leadership, the intern will contribute to data-driven decisions that improve service delivery, compliance, and grant reporting—particularly for COSSAP, Youth C3, and LCRF-funded projects. 

 

Duties/Responsibilities: 

  • Complete 150 hours of work as an intern (10-15 hours per week, 15 weeks total) 
  • Data Collection & Management 
    • Gather and organize data from EHR systems (Office Ally, Ritten), Excel-based trackers, and attendance logs. 
    • Maintain up-to-date records for IOP, MOST, and SUD programs. 
    • Assist in integrating data across departments (clinical, housing, outreach, research). 
  • Analysis & Reporting 
    • Create dashboards and visual summaries for program outcomes, attendance, and grant compliance metrics. 
    • Generate weekly and quarterly reports for leadership and SAPTA audits. 
    • Support financial tracking, including service utilization, revenue analysis, and grant fund allocation. 
  • System Optimization 
    • Collaborate with staff to streamline workflows in Microsoft 365 (Excel, Teams, OneDrive, Forms). 
    • Develop templates or macros for automated data entry, attendance summaries, and outcome tracking. 
  • Research Support 
    • Assist with data preparation for EEG/TMS-related outcomes and integrated care studies. 
    • Support literature reviews and data documentation for internal quality improvement projects. 

 

Goals and Expectations of the Intern: 

  • Gain experience working with real-world healthcare data in a behavioral health setting. 
  • Learn to manage protected health information (PHI) in compliance with HIPAA standards. 
  • Develop analytic and reporting skills using Excel, Power BI, or other data visualization tools. 
  • Understand operational and clinical metrics used in behavioral health quality improvement. 

 

Required Qualifications: 

  • Must be a degree-seeking undergraduate OR graduate student at the University of Nevada, Reno during the Spring ‘26 semester  
  • Fall ‘25 or earlier graduates are not eligible for the Wolf Pack STEM Internship Program 
  • Coursework in Data Science, Statistics, Health Informatics, or a related field. 
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, formulas, data cleaning). 
  • Familiarity with data visualization or database tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, or SQL) preferred. 
  • Interest in mental health, substance use treatment, or healthcare systems. 
  • Excellent attention to detail, analytical thinking, and confidentiality awareness. 

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Completion of coursework in statistics, research methods, or data visualization. 
  • Experience working with healthcare, behavioral health, or social service data. 
  • Familiarity with EHR systems (e.g., Office Ally, Ritten, SimplePractice) or Microsoft 365 ecosystem tools (Excel, Teams, Forms, Power BI). 
  • Understanding of grant reporting metrics, including outcome measures, demographic tracking, or performance indicators. 
  • Basic knowledge of data cleaning, coding, or scripting (e.g., Python, R, or SQL). 
  • Strong ability to interpret and present data for non-technical audiences, including clinicians and administrators. 
  • Demonstrated interest in mental health research, public health, or integrated care models. 
  • Proven organizational skills, discretion with sensitive information, and the ability to meet deadlines in a collaborative team environment. 

 

Desired Schedule for Intern: 

  • Average Weekly Commitment: 8–10 hours per week over approximately 16 weeks 
  • Mode: Hybrid (On-site in Reno + Remote work through Microsoft Teams and OneDrive) 

 

Pack STEM internships require interns to complete 150 hours during their internship. It is the intern’s responsibility to ensure this requirement is met.
