Internship Description:
We are currently migrating to Solidworks Electrical and this intern will be part of the library build out. Each electrical component will have a model and all meta data created. The Electrical Engineer Intern will be adding all terminal info to each part, voltage info, etc. Each project will have a variety of parts that need to be generated. Once the part level is complete, they will take these parts build a 3D model and electrical schematic using this tool. We will also be integrating this software into Driveworks to automatically create schematics for our engineered to order solutions.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Complete 150 hours of work as an intern (10-15 hours per week, 15 weeks total)
- Creates and maintains the documentation library including electrical schematics, drawings, models, bills of materials, quotes and engineering summaries utilizing CAD Systems and ERP software.
- Prepare and complete accurate product documentation (i.e. manuals, work instructions, assembly instructions, data sheets, etc)
- Assist in development of capabilities for new and existing machines
- Conducts assigned projects ensuring that work is completed within budgetary and time constraints while meeting customer and contractual demands.
- Assess customer requirements, evaluate engineering design, and create complete drawing packages
- Model components to define recommended parts procurement
- Creates drawings and troubleshoot issues on-site and in the field
- Collaborates with production, sales, and customers to evaluate the feasibility and technical aspects of project requests - including machine capability and capacity, project cost, tooling and machine requirements, etc.
Goals and Expectations of the Intern:
- Assist in creating electrical drawing packages.
- Assist with developing new Electrical Manufacturing processes, optimizing current processes, creates and reviews equipment requirements while using problem-solving and continuous implementing continuous improvement actions.
- Continue to build our Solidworks Electrical library of option drawings.
Required Qualifications:
- Must be a degree-seeking undergraduate OR graduate student at the University of Nevada, Reno during the Spring ‘26 semester
- Fall ‘25 or earlier graduates are not eligible for the Wolf Pack STEM Internship Program
- Analytical thinking and problem solving
- Ability to work under pressure and prioritize workload
- Ability to influence and build strong relationships with cross-functional teams
- Experience working in multidisciplinary environments
- Ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical personnel
- Detailed oriented
- Able to identify and recommend Electrical Engineering improvements
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certifications in SolidWorks (i.e. CSWA, CSWP, CSWE, CPPA, etc.)
- Solidworks Electrical experience
- Engineering in Training (EIT)
Desired Schedule for Intern:
Minimum shift of four (4) hours, M-F: 7:30am to 5:30 pm (Within that window)
Pack STEM internships require interns to complete 150 hours during their internship. It is the intern’s responsibility to ensure this requirement is met.
