Gallery Associate Intern (The Holland Project, Pack Intern, Spring 2026)

Students are welcome to by any time during our drop-in hours, but we’ll have dedicated staff on Fridays! About The Holland Project:
The Holland Project has served as Reno’s all-ages, DIY music venue and community art space since 2007, presenting 300 music performances, visual art exhibitions and events, community gatherings, youth camps, afterschool opportunities, workshops, mentorships, and so much more annually. The mission is simple: “Art, music, culture. By young people, for young people”. Governed by its members, volunteer boards, and committees, Holland seeks to propel Reno’s all-ages movement and wholeheartedly support and champion opportunities for young people in our community. Holland fundamentally believes that music and art are vital forces and that young people have the ability and right to shape and share their culture. Now nearly two decades in operation, Holland Project is the place for the most contemporary, cutting-edge, and unique art experiences in the region.
Internship Description:
The Gallery Intern will work with Holland's Gallery Manager and other staff to manage Holland's existing Gallery spaces - including the main gallery, Serva Pool Gallery, and the HP x Cosmos Gallery. Work will include installation and de-installation of artwork, gallery maintenance and prep, promotion and communication efforts, and execution of exhibitions and art-based programming.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Specifically, the intern will help curate and manage the off-site gallery, work on the Young Blood Under 21 Artist Exhibition, and help promote and support all exhibitions.
- Additionally, the intern will communicate with artists and students, help with documentation and archival efforts, and make sure exhibition materials and information are up-to-date - including the website and other promotional materials.
Goals and Expectations of the Intern:
- Complete 120 hours of work as an intern (8-15 hours per week, 15 weeks total)
- Learn the basics of coordinating, promoting, installing, hosting, and de-installing an exhibition, of planning and executing a reception and related exhibition-programming, learning valuable communication and media skills, and documenting and archiving each show.
- Develop connections within the local arts community, including local artists, media sources and art patrons.
- Gain skills working with Photoshop and/or Illustrator to create promotional material and a variety of web outlets.
Required Qualifications:
- Must be a degree-seeking undergraduate student at the University of Nevada, Reno during the Spring ‘26 semester
- Must be enrolled in a College of Liberal Arts Bachelor’s Degree Program
- Some experience hanging and handling artwork, with a sense of design/aesthetics.
- Comfortable with social media. Basic knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator or similar design/graphic software/application. Ability to professionally communicate (ie. emails, phone calls).
- Ability to do light maintenance (like patch and paint) and use basic tools (drill, hammer, etc).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Comfortable working with and communicating with students and new artists. Ability to comfortably talk about art and write/create descriptions about art and artists.
Desired Schedule for Intern:
Availability during gallery hours Wed-Fri 11am-6pm and Saturday 10am-2pm. Some nights through the internship for events.
PIGP internships require interns to complete 120 hours during their internship. It is the intern’s responsibility to ensure this requirement is met.
