Internship Description:
Residential Life, Housing and Food Services (RLHFS) at the University of Nevada, Reno is seeking to hire a Marketing Intern for the Spring 2026 Semester. In this role, you will work closely with the RLHFS Marketing and Outreach Coordinator to implement and promote living on campus.
This role involves planning, creating, and scheduling content for social media campaigns on RLHFS social media channels, including Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok. Content creation may include taking photos of campus, videos of on-campus events, or creating graphic design elements. The Marketing Intern will also help organize and manage recruitment related housing tours and staffing. Housing tours take place on various dates throughout the academic year, and the Marketing Intern will help to organize materials and coordinate guides for each tour. Additional work may include drafting copy for email marketing, tabling at outreach events, and supporting other various marketing efforts.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Develop and manage social media calendar, posts, and campaigns
- Help manage social media metrics and reporting
- Lead photo and video content creation
- Develop graphic design materials
- Assist with planning, organizing and scheduling recruitment housing tours
- Attend department meetings or other events as required
Goals and Expectations of the Intern:
- Complete 120 hours of work as an intern (8-15 hours per week, 15 weeks total)
- Help to develop department social media presence
- Assist the Marketing and Outreach Coordinator with outreach event needs
- Be personable to students/staff as a representative of the department
- Maintain a willingness to learn and be a team player
Required Qualifications:
- Must be a degree-seeking undergraduate student at the University of Nevada, Reno during the Spring ‘26 semester
- Candidate must be enrolled at the University of Nevada, Reno
- Candidate must be a Marketing or Communication Studies major
- Candidate must have excellent communication skills, written and verbal
- Candidate must have experience with social media platforms
- Candidate must have good interpersonal skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of graphic design tools is a plus (Adobe Creative Suite and/or Canva)
- Experience with Microsoft Office
- Experience with photo/video editing
- Prior marketing/communications/public relations experience is a plus
Desired Schedule for Intern:
- Monday, Wednesday, & Friday, 8 am - 10 am
- Tuesday & Thursday, between 8 am - 5 pm (hours flexible for these days)
- Occasional evening and weekend hours may be requested upon need
PIGP internships require interns to complete 120 hours during their internship. It is the intern’s responsibility to ensure this requirement is met.
