Program Assistant Intern (UNR Extension, Pack Intern, Spring 2026)
**This internship is hosted by UNR Extension (Clark County) and sponsored by the Nevada Career Studio and ASUN.

Internship Description:
As a Program Assistant Intern at UNR Extension, your primary responsibilities will include assisting with program development by collaborating with program leaders to create, implement, and evaluate educational initiatives that address community needs in areas like health and nutrition sustainability.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- You will support ongoing research initiatives through data collection, surveys, and analysis, contributing to the understanding of community health and educational outreach.
- The role also involves community engagement, where you will participate in events and outreach activities to promote UNR Extension programs, gather feedback, and build local relationships.
- Additionally, you will assist in developing educational materials and resources to enhance community awareness.
Goals and Expectations of the Intern:
- Complete 120 hours of work as an intern (8-15 hours per week, 15 weeks total)
- The primary goals for the intern in this position center around gaining practical experience in program development, learning new skills relevant to public health and community service, and establishing valuable community relationships. Interns will develop a strong foundation in research-based education and outreach while enhancing skills in data analysis, communication, and event planning. By engaging with community members and local organizations, interns will learn the importance of collaboration and networking, preparing them for successful careers and enabling them to make a meaningful contribution to the communities served by UNR Extension.
Required Qualifications:
- Must be a degree-seeking undergraduate student at the University of Nevada, Reno during the Spring ‘26 semester
- The required qualifications for interning at UNR Extension generally include being enrolled in a relevant academic program, such as community health, nutrition, or education.
- Interns should possess strong communication skills, a willingness to learn, and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Additionally, effective organizational skills and basic computer proficiency, particularly in applications like Microsoft Office, are essential for managing tasks and meeting deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications:
- The preferred qualifications for an internship at UNR Extension emphasize a strong interest in community work, health, nutrition, wellness, program development, and research.
- Additionally, those interested in research can participate in data collection and analysis on ongoing projects.
Desired Schedule for Intern:
Days and times will be appointed after it is discussed between the intern and supervisor.
PIGP internships require interns to complete 120 hours during their internship. It is the intern’s responsibility to ensure this requirement is met.
