
Farm Camp Curriculum Development Intern (Urban Roots, Pack Intern, Spring '26)
**This internship is hosted by Urban Roots and sponsored by the Nevada Career Studio and ASUN.

About Urban Roots:
Urban Roots is an education farm located in the urban setting of Reno. We run programming for all ages from pre-K families in our Little Gardeners program to all ages workshops with our Dead Plant Society. Interns would have the opportunity to choose a focus in farm/garden work, educating, event and workshop planning and/or community outreach programming.
Internship Description:
Our Farm Camp Curriculum intern will work directly with the farm camp director and our seasonal and full-time educators. Time will be spent building the curriculum box for the summer camp season as well as developing new curriculum for the summer season.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Research and develop new lessons for the farm camp participants
- Work with educators to develop theme specific lessons for the farm and with any extra time
- Develop a permanent teaching installation on the farm
Goals and Expectations of the Intern:
- Complete 120 hours of work as an intern (8-15 hours per week, 15 weeks total)
- Interns are expected to:
- Drive their personal SMART goal development
- Work with their supervisor on tasks required of them
- Stick to an established schedule and stay on track with their required hours.
Required Qualifications:
- Must be a degree-seeking undergraduate student at the University of Nevada, Reno during the Spring ‘26 semester
- Experience with the Microsoft 365 suites.
- Passion for the Urban Roots' mission
- Experience and/or strong interest in environmental education and sustainable agriculture
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience teaching and developing curriculum a bonus!
- Experience with youth education or environmental programming.
- Interest in sustainable food systems or nonprofit work.
- Ability to work independently and take initiative.
- Experience with developing teaching tools and curriculum.
Desired Schedule for Intern:
Applicants must be able to work the total hours required by UNR for their internship. Office hours are Tues - Fri, 8am - 5pm and a schedule can be developed with the preceptor. Spring Camp runs from March 23rd - April 3rd and will be required for this role to attend at least one of the weeks.
PIGP internships require interns to complete 120 hours during their internship. It is the intern’s responsibility to ensure this requirement is met.
