Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival

About Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival:

Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival (LTSF) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in Incline Village, Nevada. Since 1972, LTSF has produced world-class outdoor theater at Sand Harbor in Lake Tahoe Nevada State Park, becoming a cherished cultural tradition for thousands of residents and visitors across Northern Nevada and beyond.

Now the largest producing theater company in Nevada, LTSF is recognized for artistic excellence, educational commitment, and community impact. Each summer, our mainstage season pairs Shakespearean classics with contemporary plays and musicals, featuring leading artists from across the U.S. We also present ten concerts through our popular Showcase Series - five in collaboration with regional cultural institutions such as Sierra Nevada Ballet, Reno Jazz Orchestra, and the Reno Philharmonic.

LTSF is equally dedicated to arts education through its free D.G. Menchetti Educational Outreach Programs, reaching approximately 8,000 students annually across Northern Nevada.

  • InterACT: In-school residencies integrating theater arts into core curricula through collaborative workshops that strengthen literacy, creativity, and social-emotional learning.
  • Young Shakespeare: A summer training and performance program offering youth the opportunity to rehearse and perform under professional guidance in free public performances.

These programs ensure equitable access to the arts, addressing critical gaps caused by school budget cuts and reduced arts funding.

Recent Accomplishments:

  • Produced acclaimed seasons including Twelfth Night and Peter and the Starcatcher (2025) and The Merry Wives of Windsor and Always… Patsy Cline (2024).
  • Expanded partnerships with UNR, TMCC, and Washoe County School District to enhance educational reach.
  • Maintained balanced budgets and diversified income through ticket sales, sponsorships, and grants.
  • LTSF also benefits from a consortium with Idaho Shakespeare Festival and Great Lakes Theater, sharing artistic and administrative resources to strengthen capacity and innovation.
