Community-Engaged Intern (Office of Service Learning and Civic Engagement, Pack Intern, Spring 2026)

**This internship is hosted by UNR Office of Service-Learning & Civic Engagement (OSLCE) and sponsored by the Nevada Career Studio and ASUN. 

 

Students are highly encouraged to visit the Nevada Career Studio in-person Fridays from 12:00 to 4:00 or use our Virtual Resume + Cover Letter Tune Up service BEFORE applying for these positions. Students are welcome to by any time during our drop-in hours, but we’ll have dedicated staff on Fridays! About UNR Office of Service-Learning & Civic Engagement (OSLCE): 

OSLCE serves as the hub for community-engaged learning (CEL) and leadership at the University, providing guidance on developing effective and comprehensive relationships among University students, faculty, and community organizations. This encourages critical engagement and learning with and alongside communities. The design, integration, and implementation of CEL or community-engaged scholarship (CES) are rooted in participant education, engagement, capacity building, and understanding. 

  

CEL and CES also emphasize the importance of community action, social change, and justice. Our office aims to develop and implement meaningful community engagement opportunities that are mutually beneficial and reciprocal, addressing the current and future needs of the community, students, and faculty. 

 

Internship Description: 

The Community-Engaged Intern will assist the office with community partnership data collection, social media, and office administration. Interns will develop an interdisciplinary approach to community engagement that emphasizes public service, civic engagement, and progress and justice. The Intern will also assist with programs and events and will be directly supervised by OSLCE leadership. 

 

Duties/Responsibilities: 

  • Assist in the collection of community partnership data 
  • Provide support for the Wolf Pack Discoveries Poster symposium 
  • Develop a calendar for office events 
  • Organize and restructure social media and promotion materials 
  • Promote the office events and initiatives on social media 
  • Other duties as assigned 

 

Goals and Expectations of the Intern: 

  • Complete 120 hours of work as an intern (8-15 hours per week, 15 weeks total) 
  • The goal of this internship is to develop community-engaged professionals who have a passion or commitment to public or community-minded work. Those who are interested in public or community engagement, community-based work, or public service work are highly encouraged to apply. 

 

Required Qualifications: 

  • Must be a degree-seeking undergraduate student at the University of Nevada, Reno during the Spring ‘26 semester 
  • Proficiency or wanting to develop skills in communications, media and marketing, or digital engagement. 
  • Community-facing majors or students who commit to community-based work post graduation. 

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

Experience working with communities. 

 

Desired Schedule for Intern:  

Within the M-F 9am-5pm schedule. 

 

PIGP internships require interns to complete 120 hours during their internship. It is the intern’s responsibility to ensure this requirement is met.
