Arts Administration Intern (Reno Phil, Pack Intern, Spring 2026)

**This internship is hosted by Reno Phil and sponsored by the Nevada Career Studio and ASUN.

Students are welcome to by any time during our drop-in hours, but we’ll have dedicated staff on Fridays! About Reno Phil: 

The Reno Phil is northern Nevada’s largest performing arts organization. We are a part-time, per-service orchestra comprised of over 60 professional musicians who perform more than 30 concerts annually throughout the Reno, Carson Valley and Lake Tahoe region. The Reno Philharmonic Association oversees and operates the professional orchestra, a symphonic chorus, three youth orchestras and numerous educational and outreach programs. Musicians of the professional orchestra, youth orchestras, various ensembles and education programs offer more than 60 performances each year, playing to over 55,000 people, half of them school-aged children. As a federally registered 501(c)3 nonprofit organization in the state of Nevada, the Reno Phil engages an active Board of Trustees, staff, volunteers, patrons, donors, sponsors, partner organizations and the community to ensure that it will thrive through future generations. 

 

Internship Description: 

The Arts Administration Intern will focus on projects that align with their interests while getting to engage in all aspects of the organization. Including program production, promotion, and evaluation. 

 

Duties/Responsibilities: 

Work may include the following based on intern interest: 

  • Work with Director of Education and Community Engagement to create new community engagement initiatives and the successful implementation of existing education programs. 
  • Work with Director of Development & Events to prepare written progress reports for funders. 
  • Work with Marketing department to develop pre-concert marketing, outreach, and communication strategies to ensure a full houses on concert day. 

 

Goals and Expectations of the Intern: 

  • Complete 120 hours of work as an intern (8-15 hours per week, 15 weeks total) 
  • Develop a Comprehensive Understanding: 
    • Gain a deep understanding of the Reno Phil's mission, programs, and organizational structure. 
  • Contribute to Education and Community Engagement: 
    • Assist in the planning and execution of educational programs and community outreach events. 
    • Help develop educational materials and resources. 
    • Collaborate with community partners to enhance engagement efforts. 
    • Measure and analyze the impact of education and community engagement initiatives. 
  • Support Marketing Efforts: 
    • Assist in creating content for social media, newsletters, and website. 
    • Participate in the development of marketing campaigns and strategies. 
    • Monitor and analyze marketing metrics and audience engagement. 
    • Collaborate with graphic designers and media partners for promotional materials. 
  • Contribute to Development and Fundraising: 
    • Help organize and execute fundraising events and campaigns. 
    • Participate in grant writing and reporting efforts. 
    • Support donor stewardship and recognition activities. 
  • Professional Development: 
    • Participate in provided professional development opportunities. 
    • Seek opportunities to expand knowledge of arts administration best practices. 
    • Enhance communication and teamwork skills through collaboration with colleagues. 

 

Required Qualifications: 

  • Must be a degree-seeking undergraduate student at the University of Nevada, Reno during the Spring ‘26 semester 
  • Strong organizational skills 
  • Attention to detail 
  • Familiarity with various technology and software platforms (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite) 
  • Team player 
  • Adaptability - willingness to adapt to changing circumstances and take on new tasks or challenges as needed. 

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Passion for the arts - a genuine interest in and passion for the performing arts, music or cultural organizations. 
  • Passion for community engagement - an interest in and commitment to community engagement and outreach initiatives 
  • Ability to read music 

 

Desired Schedule for Intern:  

Applicants must be available to work between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm. Other availability for weekend concerts or Monday evenings would be on an interest and project basis. Average of 10 hours weekly. 

 

PIGP internships require interns to complete 120 hours during their internship. It is the intern’s responsibility to ensure this requirement is met.
