Learning Coach Intern (Fit Learning, Pack Intern, Spring 2026)

**This internship is hosted by Fit Learning and sponsored by the Nevada Career Studio and ASUN. 

 

Students are highly encouraged to visit the Nevada Career Studio in-person Fridays from 12:00 to 4:00 or use our Virtual Resume + Cover Letter Tune Up service BEFORE applying for these positions. Students are welcome to by any time during our drop-in hours, but we’ll have dedicated staff on Fridays! About Fit Learning: 

Fit Learning is a learning laboratory where we apply the science of learning to teach academic skills to school-aged children. Our methods are rooted in the science of behavior and the technologies of teaching that have emerged from this science. Fit Learning Interns receive extensive training in the principles of behavior and technologies like precision teaching, direct instruction, and curriculum-based measurement to produce profound academic gains with the learners they work with. Internship Description: 

Learning Coach interns will receive extensive training required to deliver academic curriculum to school-aged sessions using the science of behavior. Training is competency-based, which means we will provide the amount of training you need to become certified in the Fit Learning model to deliver sessions to our learners. Once certified, you will work 1:1 with school-aged children in the areas of reading, math, and critical thinking and problem-solving. We also have a classroom readiness program for children ages 3-5. Sessions are fun, fast-paced, and goal-oriented. Fit Learning Coaches are responsible for preparing and delivering sessions related to all curriculum domains in which the Learning Coach is certified. Learning coaches are trained to make real-time data-based decisions about learners' progress. You will work closely with Case Managers, Learning Coaches, and the Directorship to advance learners enrolled at Fit Learning. Interns may have the opportunity for part-time employment with our organization after completing the internship. Individuals who have the opportunity to work with us for 1-2 years following the internship are preferred. 

 

Duties/Responsibilities: 

The primary role of a Fit Learning Coach is to conduct 1:1 sessions with school-aged children enrolled in our program. In a session, you will run programs in a learner's binder, collect data, make data-based decisions, and perform brief micro-experiments to accelerate learning when applicable. Learning coaches participate in weekly staff meetings.  

 

In addition, A Learning Coach: 

  • Arrives at least 10 minutes before start of first session(s). 
  • Prepares for sessions in accordance with procedures. 
  • Conducts and concludes sessions in accordance with Fit Learning procedures and checklists. 
  • Recognizes and communicates barriers to success to Case Manager, Case Advisor, Clinical Operations Coordinator, or Directorship. 
  • Provides written reports of case problems or parent concerns to Case Manager, Advisor, or Directorship within 24 hours. 
  • Attends and regularly contributes to team meetings. 
  • Participates in training meetings and completes assignments. 
  • Keeps charts current as needed for assigned cases and completes in accordance with chart checklist 
  • Completes projects by the deadline when assigned 
  • Assists with answering the phones. 
  • Operates inside of company mission and values 
  • Adheres to all approved company policies and procedures. 
  • Respond to emails in a manner that corresponds with company policy 
  • Participate in evaluations as assigned 
  • Contribute to space integrity 

 

Goals and Expectations of the Intern: 

  • Complete 120 hours of work as an intern (8-15 hours per week, 15 weeks total) 
  • A strong academic foundation in reading and/or math is advantageous. However, interns can expect that part of the training will entail "brushing up" on foundational skills to ensure that interns are well-qualified to coach learners in these areas when running sessions.  
  • Fit Learning is a feedback-rich environment and operates with a high level of integrity. This experience aims to provide interns with an invaluable skill set that will be relevant to Fit Learning and experiences outside of Fit Learning. 

 

Required Qualifications: 

  • Must be a degree-seeking undergraduate student at the University of Nevada, Reno during the Spring ‘26 semester

    • General: Ability to deliver instruction efficiently. This is a fast-paced environment. Ability to develop quickly establish rapport with students of all ages. Abilty to receive and incorporate frequent feedback. This is a feedback-dense environment. 
    • Language Ability: Ability to read and comprehend simple/multi-step instructions, short correspondence, and memos, and skill to write simple correspondence. Capable of effectively presenting information in one-on-one sessions with students. 
    • Reasoning Ability: Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations 
    • Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge and fluency with 
  • Microsoft Word; Microsoft Excel; Gmail; Apple operating systems (including mobile versions); Zoom, etc. 

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Strong foundation in math and reading skills 
  • A minimum 3.0 GPA is recommended. 

 

Desired Schedule for Intern:  

Initial training is best between the hours of 9-1. Once an intern is certified to deliver sessions, availability between 3 pm and 7:40 pm is critical. Staff meetings are held from 1:50-3 pm on Wednesdays. Attendance is required, but meetings may be attended virtually. 

 

PIGP internships require interns to complete 120 hours during their internship. It is the intern’s responsibility to ensure this requirement is met.
