Public Affairs Intern (The Ferrato Co, Pack Intern, Spring 2026)

Internship Description: 

The Public Affairs Intern will track and monitor legislative policy hearings for the firm. They will be responsible for writing reports on all legislative hearings and updating the firm on relevant media activity. The intern will be responsible for maintaining the bill tracking database and doing research projects as needed. The intern will get access to the full operation of a public affairs firm and meet clients and state legislators. The work will vary daily and provide good exposure to a variety of policy issues. 

 

Duties/Responsibilities: 

  • Pull media clips daily for local happenings and client mentions 
  • Sit on client calls and take notes 
  • Create content for social media 
  • Attend and take notes at local government, regulatory and state interim meetings to monitor topics for clients to share with clients and other firm employees 
  • Research local businesses, organizations and elected officials that may impact our clients’ issues 
  • Manage and update spreadsheets to share with clients 
  • Any other duties requested 

 

Goals and Expectations of the Intern: 

  • Complete 120 hours of work as an intern (8-15 hours per week, 15 weeks total) 
  • Work independently and take initiative 
  • Complete tasks in a timely fashion 
  • Ask questions 
  • Constantly improve and develop work product 

 

Required Qualifications: 

  • Must be a degree-seeking undergraduate student at the University of Nevada, Reno during the Spring ‘26 semester 
  • Interest in politics and public policy 
  • Organized and detail oriented 
  • Self-motivated and ability to work independently 
  • Strong writing skills 
  • Research skills 
  • Experienced Microsoft office suite user 

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

Previous experience working in politics or government entities such as city council, school district, and state legislature 

 

Desired Schedule for Intern:  

It is more beneficial if interns work full days, but the job is flexible. 

 

PIGP internships require interns to complete 120 hours during their internship. It is the intern’s responsibility to ensure this requirement is met.
