Project Development and Management Intern (City of Reno, Pack Intern, Spring 2026)

**This internship is hosted by City of Reno - Youth Division and sponsored by the Nevada Career Studio and ASUN. 

 

Students are highly encouraged to visit the Nevada Career Studio in-person Fridays from 12:00 to 4:00 or use our Virtual Resume + Cover Letter Tune Up service BEFORE applying for these positions. Students are welcome to by any time during our drop-in hours, but we’ll have dedicated staff on Fridays! Resumes and cover letters that do not meet NCS expectations will not be included in applicant packages to employers.   

 

City of Reno - Youth Division 

 

About City of Reno - Youth Division: 

The City of Reno Youth Division provides the Sierra Kids before and after school programs and various summer, fall, winter, and spring break camps to meet the needs of parents and guardians. We strive to provide our youth with a positive and safe environment while offering educational and recreational opportunities. As a part of the City of Reno Parks and Recreation Department, our team is passionate about sustainability, operating with consistency and enthusiasm. Interns who join our team will work on program development and gain hands-on experience in youth engagement. 

 

Internship Description: 

The City of Reno Youth Division Intern will support the Youth Division office by assisting with program planning, implementation, community outreach, and administrative tasks. Ideal candidates will possess strong communication and organizational skills. 

 

Duties/Responsibilities: 

  • Assist in the design and implementation of youth programs and special events 
  • Support project planning, including timelines, task tracking, and documentation 
  • Collaborate with city staff and community partners to coordinate logistics 
  • Help evaluate program outcomes and prepare reports 
  • Attend team meetings and contribute to brainstorming and planning sessions 

 

Goals and Expectations of the Intern: 

  • Complete 120 hours of work as an intern (8-15 hours per week, 15 weeks total) 
  • Be reliable and responsible: Show up on time, communicate clearly, and follow through on assignments 
  • Engaging with curiosity: Ask questions, offer ideas, and take initiative in your work 
  • Collaborate respectfully: Work well with staff, youth participants, and community partners in a team-oriented environment. 
  • Maintain confidentiality and safety: Respect the privacy of youth participants and follow all safety protocols and city guidelines. 
  • Track your progress: maintain a simple log of hours and tasks, and participate in regular check-ins with your supervisor 

 

Required Qualifications: 

  • Must be a degree-seeking undergraduate student at the University of Nevada, Reno during the Spring ‘26 semester 
  • Applicants must pass a comprehensive background check 
  • Must enjoy working with children 
  • Ability to operate office equipment, including computers 
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written 

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • CPR/AED and First Aid certification. 
  • Possession of a valid driver's license. 

 

Desired Schedule for Intern:  

  • Applicants should be available to work during our normal hours of operation M-F 7am-6pm. 

 

PIGP internships require interns to complete 120 hours during their internship. It is the intern’s responsibility to ensure this requirement is met.
