About the Program
Martin-Harris Construction is proud to offer a hands-on internship program designed to provide students with real-world exposure to the construction industry. As one of the leading general contractors in the Southwest, we give our interns opportunities to contribute to meaningful projects, explore different departments, and develop skills that support future career success.
Position Summary
Interns will work primarily with a project team in Operations, gaining insight into day-to-day project delivery. In addition, interns will rotate through departments such as Safety, Estimating, Preconstruction, Business Development, Warranty, and more. This structure ensures a well-rounded understanding of the general contractor’s role while building professional skills in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
Key Learning Opportunities
As an intern, you may:
- Assist project teams with reviewing contract documents, plans, and shop drawings.
- Attend project meetings, including Owner/Architect/Contractor (OAC) meetings, and participate in jobsite visits.
- Support project scheduling, progress tracking, and punch list management.
- Observe and participate in field safety inspections, orientations, and incident protocol reviews.
- Shadow Superintendents to understand field operations, scheduling, and inspection processes.
- Learn about estimating and preconstruction by participating in bid reviews, takeoffs, and bid day activities.
- Attend a business development event and gain exposure to client-facing functions.
- Rotate through additional areas such as Warranty, Accounting, VDC/BIM, and Equipment to understand how support teams contribute to project delivery.
- Connect with senior leadership and gain mentorship opportunities.
Qualifications
- Must be a minimum of 16 years of age.
- Must be eligible to work in the United States and provide two (2) forms of identification (Driver’s License, Social Security Card, Passport, or Original Birth Certificate).
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Working toward a degree in Construction Management or a related field preferred.
- Must be team-oriented and focused on inter-departmental collaboration.
Program Logistics
- Duration: 8–12 weeks during the summer (with potential opportunities to extend).
- Compensation: Paid internship.
- Locations: Opportunities available in Las Vegas, NV; Reno, NV; Lakewood/Denver, CO; and other regional offices.
- Schedule: Full-time, Monday–Friday.
