ABE Front Desk Assistant

Morning ABE Front Desk Assistant: This position provides customer service and clerical support to the Office of Adult Basic Education. This position will provide support for students enrolling in the Adult Basic Education Program at TMCC Meadowood Campus. No experience is required. PAID on-the-job training is provided. Hours would be for 8am-Noon depending on class schedule (M-F). Bilingual skills are preferred. 

*Hours per week can range between 19 to 29 depending on experience and availability. 

ABE Front Desk Assistant Duties:

  • Greet customers in a professional and courteous manner via telephone and/or in person.
  • Answer questions about TMCC and ABE program services, locations and resources via telephone and/or in person.
  • Review and respond to voice messages; forward messages to appropriate personnel.
  • Read and respond to emails daily.
  • Clean and maintain the front desk and office common areas.
  • Maintain confidentiality and the security of both electronic and paper files in accordance with FERPA regulations.
  • Participate in and assist in special PAID events, meetings and trainings as assigned/required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Excellent communication, written and verbal;
  • Multi-tasking; organization, prioritization, attention to detail, thoroughness;
  • Basic computer and typing;
  • Basic office equipment; scanners, fax, Xerox, shredder, printers, etc.;
  • Confidentiality; decision making; analyzing information;
  • Independence with the ability to work as part of a team in a positive, cooperative and professional manner;
  • Sensitivity to diverse learners;
  • Professional and businesslike image/attire at all times; slightly less professional and businesslike attire on Fridays (jeans) are acceptable.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma and/or High School Equivalency Certificate
  • No office experience required, training is provided.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, up to 19* hours a week, Monday – Saturday.

Training Provided:

  • Training on the Nevada Assessments Systems, Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act, Sexual Harassment Prevention, Active Shooter and LACES are required.

Hours:

  • Scheduled hours would be between 8AM to Noon Monday – Friday. Hours and days vary, some hours may vary based on class schedule.

Compensation:

  • Hourly wage $15.00 - $18 per hour
