Annual Salary: $67,433.60 - $87,651.20

Position Information:
The Interpreter provides interpretation and translation services in support of legal proceedings for victims and witnesses; and performs related duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
Two years of experience translating or providing interpretive services in a justice system, law enforcement, medical, or related professional setting; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. An associate’s degree in interpretation, translation, linguistics or closely related field can substitute for up to half of the required experience.
License or Certificate
A valid driver’s license is required at the time of appointment and must be maintained for continued employment in this classification.
Ideal Candidate Will
Have a Nevada Court Certified Interpreter certification or willingness to obtain certification, highly desirable.
Have the ability to interpret from Spanish to English and from English to Spanish for victims, witnesses and other persons in a wide variety of settings such as court proceedings, meetings, telephone calls.
Have the ability to translate messages simultaneously or consecutively into specified languages from written documents, statements, court transcripts, oral testimonies, audio interviews, and recordings.
Follow ethical codes that protect the confidentiality of information.
Have the ability to determine meanings and prepare translations that accurately portray the original message.
Understand terms used in justice and law enforcement settings.
Have familiarity with the judicial processes.
