Digital Content Producer

The Digital Content Producer is responsible for creating, curating, and publishing engaging news and feature content across all digital platforms, including our station website, mobile and tablet applications, and social media channels. This position plays a key role in delivering timely, accurate, and compelling coverage that aligns with our mission of providing “Coverage You Can Count On.” The role requires strong writing skills, editorial judgment, and the ability to work quickly in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Write, edit, and publish breaking news, weather, sports, and feature stories for digital platforms.
  • Select, create, and post photos, videos, and graphics to complement written content.
  • Monitor multiple news sources (local, national, and international) for relevant developments and breaking stories.
  • Send push notifications and email alerts to keep audiences informed in real time.
  • Collaborate with the newsroom team to ensure consistent editorial standards across broadcast and digital.
  • Optimize stories for search engines (SEO) and implement social media best practices to drive traffic and audience engagement.
  • Fact-check and verify information before publishing to maintain accuracy and credibility.
  • Track and analyze audience metrics to inform content decisions.
  • Assist in live coverage of special events, elections, and severe weather situations.
  • Maintain digital archives of published content for reference and compliance.

Qualifications

  • Strong writing, grammar, and proofreading skills with a keen editorial sense.
  • Proven ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
  • Familiarity with newsroom operations and digital publishing workflows; ENPS knowledge preferred.
  • Experience producing content for websites, apps, and social media platforms.
  • Understanding of SEO and analytics tools (Google Analytics, Chartbeat, etc.).
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of one year of experience in a newsroom or digital content role preferred; internships accepted.

Additional Requirements

  • Must have a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
  • Flexibility to work nights, weekends, holidays, and extended hours as news dictates.
  • On-call availability for breaking news coverage.
