Job Description
Title: Student Services Coordinator
Department/Program: Education/Adult Basic Education
Work Location: NNLC -1400 Wedekind Rd. Reno NV 89512
Hours: Monday through Thursday 8:00 am -5:30 pm
Friday: 8:00 am- 2:00 pm (Alternating Weeks)
Monday through Thursday 10:00 am – 8:00 pm
Friday: 8:00 am-12:00 pm
(Flexible hours to adjust for events, training and meetings)
Exempt/Non-Exempt: Non-Exempt
The Position:
Under the direct supervision of the Executive Director, the Student Services Coordinator is responsible for managing and provide access to necessary supportive services in the community, provide case management services as needed and requested, and develop programs and resources that support wellness for the entire student and program participant population.
Student Services Coordinator Responsibilities:
- Establish regular communication and meetings with assigned students to encourage continued success and completion as well as proactively address issues that may arise.
- Work collaboratively with Executive Director, Academic Director, Instructors, Program Managers, Data Base Coordinator, for the purpose of increasing student transition success, retention, and completion targets.
- Advise students who are in academic and attendance jeopardy as part of the holistic advising model in order to promote workforce development transition to career pathways.
- Meet with Data Base Coordinator weekly to efficiently and effectively identify students who are not attending class.
- Maintain and uphold FERPA regulations.
- Stay abreast of curriculum and policy changes.
- Maintain a presence in every classroom and program (ABE/ASE, ELA/IELCE, YouthBuild, Family Reading Program, and Citizenship Program).
- Participate in special advising initiatives and projects.
- Stay abreast of all Workforce Innovation Opportunity Act (WIOA) requirements pertaining to the AEFLA grant program for continuous improvement of student outcomes.
- Create, maintain, and publish student resources throughout the staff, student, and participant population.
- Attend community events as a liaison and advocate for student services gathering information including enrollment criteria for available resources to include housing, transportation, food insecurities, etc.
- Create and implement student activities creating a positive and supportive learning environment.
Dress Code for This Position:
The dress code for this position is Business Casual as detailed in the NNLC Administrative Policies in an effort to model the professional expectation of all students interviewing to enter into the workforce.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be Bilingual in Spanish.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution is preferred.
- Two years of experience in working with and advising adult learners from diverse backgrounds.
- Excellent computer, written, verbal, and organizational skills.
- Must be detailed orientated ensuring accuracy and effectiveness of all programs.
- Must have the ability to organize and accurately report information on a daily basis.
- Must have good time management skills.
